The morning started at Fort Wayne. It was impressive to see them use the new ritual. They did amazing work with only one previous meeting of practicing with the ritual. Mariah presented Carolyn, Markanda and I with goodie bags. Inside, there was candy, a candle and a cross. Markanda reached inside her bag and thrust her cross to the heavens and shouted "Jesus." It was hilarious. Also, it was repeated in all the remarks that if you were looking for Job for the GB travel contest, then you would find him praying to "Jesus." I also got a nice big family hug (Thanks Joe, Stephanie and Carolyn...a powerhouse team!). We had a beautiful lunch was made and served by the Masons. At lunch, there was some conversation about dialects in the book The Help, but you will have to see the culprits Becca, Sarahbeth or Markanda for details...

Heading back down I-69, we arrived early to Daleville/Muncie OV, but were quickly greeted by the girls. I want to thank you all for your warm welcome and laughs. One baby was dedicated and we were glad to welcome Jessica as the newest member of the International Order of Job's Daughters. Before the baby dedication, we were laughing about Markanda's "Jesus" comment and she said, "If I would have held on to it any longer, I would have been preaching." HILARIOUS!!! At this OV, I was amazed by the prowess of some of the ritual work. It was some of the best we have seen. In all, if you weren't there, you missed the Superbowl after-party.

I want to encourage all the girls to get their noses into the new rituals and sign up for Ritual Contest. I have seen some amazing ritual work this year and I hope that all of you go and show off your MAD skills!

Ketchup...I mean Catch Up!

Hello Wonderful Indiana Job's Daughters!

I have some catch up to due!

I will start with ADSOI. It was an action packed day full of birthday surprises, lots of learning and great fellowship. In the morning, we had lots of announcements (all of which can be found on the website) and then Grand Bethel presented elections. After lunch, we continued to work on our mission statement for Indiana Job's Daughters and the work was excellent. Thank you to all those that participated.

Next, we had some official visits cancelled due to weather and both have been rescheduled. We were sad to miss them on those days. The ICE got us all!

On the 28th, Carolyn and I ventured to the OV of 32/53. We had fun seeing some fantastic ritual work by some pretty young girls. I definitely wanted to give a shout out to Taylor and Sydney. It was really impressive!!! I tried to get the coveted item of the day...NEW RITUALS! But, I waited until the OV at Browsburg. They initiated and I thought it was awesome that the initiates sister got to give her the obiligation. Very special.

I was unable to make Bloomington's OV and I am very sorry to miss those young ladies. I was at home awaiting my home visit with Odle, who is a 2 yr old Golden Doodle. He is a facility service dog that has been specially trained for 2 years by the Indiana Canine Assistance Network and will come to work with me and the children I serve. The home visit went really well. So hopefully, it will be official by the end of March.

Last night, I made my annual tour of the Demolay Sweetheart Dance. It was lots of fun and full of dancing. We worked it out to every possible type of dance song and had a blast! Thanks to my car buddies Libbie, Carolyn and Leslie. Our misdirections and scary rides will always be stuck in my head!

See you all on the road next weekend!

The Last OV of the Term!

We made it halfway through! We finished the last OV of the term at 42 and 24. I know 42 was excited to initiating Miss Chloe. It was extra special because afterwards was the reception for Bob Utley. It was a joy to celebrate how much he has given to Job's Daughters and also to see some of the greatest hits of Indiana Job's Daughters too! Carolyn and I were eager beavers so we got there early, so we decided to stop for breakfast. When we were in line paying, this woman cut her off. It was hilarious but she didn't think so (especially by the drop of her open jaw). Joe successfully did not destroy anything and lots of people got their photo with Bob. See you all at ADSOI! Make sure to bring your shoes for the Misses' SHARE YOUR SOLES project. Having the most pairs gets you entered to win an amazing prize and you need at least 30 pairs to enter as a Bethel. Also, bring 5 DOLLARS for lunch to support the GB scholarship fund!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas!!!

On the Road Again...

On Saturday, Carolyn and I made our pilgrimage to Muncie for the Official Visit of Bethel's 25 and 115. They proudly initiated Haley's good friend, Julia. I hope that she has a tremendous time in Bethel 25! I know how much fun they can be and how much they can teach me (i.e. how to make a friendship bracelet). They had great ritual work...even the fine print stuff. I am sure that the past Grand's that work with them are very proud...wink, wink! After a great lunch (Carolyn loved the meatballs), we headed farther south for the OV of 38 and 68. On the way, Carolyn and I only saw one car with people on them. It was sad. At their OV, Emily did a fantastic job as Honored Queen. She was arguably one of the best of the term. Bethel 38 excitedly initiated Jayda and Ariel. I was so excited to see how much they are growing. Keep up the awesome work! I was super impressed by Jessica's ritual work as Senior Princess. Joe destroyed their horn of plenty. Emily said, "Thanks for giving Joe on Thanksgiving." It was pretty funny! I just want to keep encouraging all the girls to expand your Bethels and take pride in your ritual work.

Additionally, I want to put a bug in your ear that this year at Grand Master's Youth Day, we will be doing Statewide Initiation. However, I don't wan you to cry your eyes out so know that the steps we took on Saturday will be coming to you live at ADSOI for your thoughts too.

Now, I know that you are throughly confused (unless you were there) so I will give you some insight. We started off the day learning about the Supreme Leadership conference a couple of weeks ago and how to be a good salesman or woman. If you weren't there, you missed some classic and priceless photos of the young, George Ingles. I am pretty confident that I can sell ice cream and by the end of the day, I think the girls were good on selling Job's Daughters too. Some highlights from George: know your product, know why it is so good, stop calling it a petition (instead, go for an application for membership), remember it is for girls 10 to 19 (20 is majority), and figure out who in the Bethel is the right person to talk (sometimes, it isn't always the Bethel Guardian).

Next, the girls were off making videos about Job's Daughters. They should be making their way onto the website by the beginning of 2012. As the MIJD said, "I didn't realize how creative our girls were!" They all did exceptional and so many girls conquered some big fears. The adults mostly identified the need to focus on retention. They came up with the idea for a parent handbook (by the way, the girls thought that parent involvement or lack there of was a big reason why we are losing girls too). They are just too smart! The girls also completed a SWOT analysis with some really good insight about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing Indiana Job's Daughters. They also did ice cream speeches from 1920 and for 2020. The 1920's ones were pretty hilarious. For example, did you know that according to Elecia (circa 1920), you can't come to the Bethel meeting if your skirt doesn't cover your ankles? Just proved how much I missed her!

In the afternoon, the girls got crafty and did mission and vision word walls, magazine cover stories of Indiana Job's Daughters, a mural, and a collage. Many of these things will be displayed at ADSOI. The adults worked on a draft of a mission statement for Indiana Job's Daughters, which was guided by many of the girls mission words.

I was so proud of everyone's hard work and participation. We took some real steps forward, but as in everything in life, we did not get it all accomplished in one day. Hence, we will be asking Bethels and individuals to come up with their own Mission Statements to bring the ADSOI so we can do some further work. You will be getting more information about this.

Again, a huge thanks to those that attended, the GB exec, and TIFFANY! It was an amazing day. I am just sorry if you missed out! Hope to see you at ADSOI!

Grand Bethel Leadership Conference

INDIANA!!!

Get those registrations in for the annual Grand Bethel ASAP. It will be so exciting and your voice will really count so make sure to be there or be square!!!

Today, we started back on our line ups of OVs. The morning started at Franklin. Their official visit included Franklin, Shelbyville, Beech Grove, and Cumberland. The girls had a wonderful initiation for Emma and Jaedlyn. We welcome you both to Job's Daughters. Like so many other OVs, the protem officers made a huge difference. If you are able to travel, grab your robe and help other Bethels be successful. I encourage all the Bethels to keep expanding their membership. The refreshments were so good that I missed out on them. The Miller's chili was out before I got there. Also, if you need some candles for Christmas gifts, Franklin is selling them. They smelled pretty good. Also, if you weren't there, you missed out on free candy bars from Taylor!

Next, Carolyn and I ran down to Bloomington for their OV with #110. Although, the girls from #110 were unable to be there, the girls from #22 definitely represented. They were extremely proficient in their ritual work and definitely know how to have a barrel of fun. Again, I want to recognize the great HQ work done by Katy. She really lead her Bethel and you could tell that she was in charge. On another note, I tried to winning the last clap, which was dominated by Bekka. Therefore, you know that I lost tragically. In terms of remarks, I had a tough act to follow after Joe. Additionally, Christy was recognized as the 'Righteous' Work Award from GB. She was loud and proud with her part and music! Keep it up girl! I would recommend that you take a trip down to Bloomington to see the great work that they are doing. After the meeting, we had superb refreshments (aka...chicken and noodles). Taryn, Carolyn, Samantha, Katy, and I had fun laughing about boys. On a side note, I just want to say how much I love STEPHANIE and JOE!!! I will go to my happy place if you will too (wink, wink)!

Coronation Ball!!!

Coronation Ball started with a stressful evening of trying to figure out what to wear. Carolyn and Leslie wanted to pull me out of my closet with their teeth. No worries, I was just as frustrated. After leaving the house, we arrived downtown to learn that we were locked out. Have no fear because Lori was here. She got us security and the ball was on its way. Lots of girls took the Corn Ball test. I give them all a huge round of applause. It takes so much courage to take the test. In all black and white, everyone started to work it on the dance floor. All in all, we had a fun night dancing! I think there were more couples then ever before. Also, Leslie and I found the little versions of ourselves and won gold medals. We gave them away to some girls that were dancing hard up front by the lights. A big congrats to Brittany DeVore and Bekka Combs for winning Queen and Jr. Queen respectfully! Lastly, much would not have been possible without Lori and her crew of silent workers. Thank you all for making the evening such an amazing success.

Lazy Girl

Many of you might be thinking the same thing. Where is the zeal of blogging that the GBHQ showed earlier in the year? I have been asking myself the same thing. So, like many other things in life, I am going to renew my commitment and apologize for my short comings.

While I was away, we have had many fun trips around the State. Right after Brownsburg's OV, we went to Masonic Home day and had a great time face painting and selling cotton candy. We had a battle royale with OES as they had a professional face painter. However, Carolyn, Leslie, and I's hours of practicing prototypes of 5 hours paid off. Our 50 cent designs totally showed up the professional. The greatest challenge was presented to Carolyn when had to paint a full face of Darth Mal. Of course, Elecia was late, but I wasn't shock...we know Elecia's ways and that is why we love her. I want to thank everyone who stopped by and especially bought cotton candy as the proceeds went to scholarship.

I had a lonely trip to Bethel 8 and 27's OV. This is probably the only time that I will admit missing Carolyn...hahaha! She was working hard taking those SAT's! Before I got to the OV, I had already worked for two and half hours at Bethel #34's Breakfast. I was so proud of those girls for really connecting to the community and completing a successful fundraiser. When I arrived at the Bethel, I worked hard to sell my Soup's Cook-Off tickets and meet Becca's new dog, absolute cutie. Bethel 27 initiated a new daughter and I was really impressed by the ritual work. The girls in the East had wonderful proficiency and I would be remiss to not thank Shelby for all of her help. If you weren't there, you definitely missed out on the great food afterwards.

I have not yet mentioned our JOB-A-RAMA! These ladies need no introduction, but TARA and JAMIE threw a smashing and candy filled Job-a-rama. There was great hikes, games - including a fierce kickball tournament, which GB won, not shocking, fishing, cabin challenges, movies, and arts and crafts. The girls from Muncie taught me to make friendship bracelets. I am not great, but maybe could make you one. The skits were hilarious especially the Channel Changer from Bethel 22. I loved to see all the Jobie-to-Bees being honored. They thought it was pretty special too. I have heard that Ashlynn from #38 hasn't stopped talking about it since she got back. I also want to thank all of GB exec who were there and worked the table. You streaked girl's hair, had your arms elbow deep in ice, hauled it from one of the campus to another, ran games, and cleaned up where ever I asked. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Hopefully, you didn't drop the ice down the hill as many times as I did. It was a serious epic fail especially in the pouring rain.

We also took a trip out to Clinton for their official visit. They are small, but very mighty and had some really good ritual work. They served us their famous ice cream and Carolyn served as HQ. I hope next term many more of you can come out this way to support these girls.

In October, we also headed out to the Masonic Home for Go-to-Church Sunday. As Carolyn and I promised, our visit made the residents tear up. The pastor threw some tough words at Carolyn, but she wrestled them like a Champ! A big thank you to all the girls and adults who came out for the services. After the church services, we hosted the 7th Annual Grand Bethel Soup's Cook-off. It would not have been achieved without Elecia, Bonita, Tara, Raquel, Leslie, Shelby, and all those others who did things. I really, really appreciate. We made great money for scholarship. Bethel #34's soup won big and finally Raquel won!!! We are all so proud of her.

This past weekend, we visited Northwest Indiana for their OV. It was Leslie's Majority Ceremony. Being back home brought back so many memories. Sally kept us on the straight and narrow and the Bailey's let Carolyn and I crash. We had the honor of doing the baby dedication for Mary Jo's granddaughter. I was so privileged to be at my dear friend's majority. Now, we are officially starting our new journey. I love that she let me share in that special day. Plus, it didn't hurt that Grandpa Bailey (big stuff in the Shriner World) officially said that I was in the family. Take that Carolyn...hahaha!

Since you are a dedicated reader if you made it through all of this, I will throw one more thing on you. If you have not sent in your registration for the Leadership Conference, you need to get it in by November 1st. I hope you will all come. Be there or be square!

Yours,
Brittany

OV's Times Two!

Today was a wonderful journey to the west side of Indiana. Carolyn and I had our companion "Little Owl" as known as Sophie with us. She got the nickname because her yawn pretty much sounds like a "hoot." It all equaled hilariousness. We traveled past some really scary motels, but safely arrived at Knightsville. They were so welcoming and performed "A Cruise of Love" ceremony. I have never seen it done and Joe and Stephanie were the honorary two to go on the "cruise." It was Joe's maiden voyage. Joe's second time around on remarks was better with his list. I love that he lets us give him a hard time. Hailey found Job really fast...before the OV even started. Stephanie went the wrong way on 70. FYI for everyone...Knightsville is off of 70 West not EAST! But it was bad karma, because I forgot my bag with all my certificates. What a mess!

Next, we traversed off to Brownsburg. For all who don't know, 267 is also under construction. We took some pretty sketchy back roads, but finally arrived. We dined and dashed (we paid of course, we aren't hoodlums). We got in a little shopping for Grand Bethel. Arriving at Brownsburg, we prepared for the HIKE ceremony. I had the privilege of presiding over the HIKE Ceremony were we presented Alex and his family with a check for $1200 to get hearing aids. The family was absolutely fabulous and felt like they were on TV with all the pictures taken. Alex loves Lego's so Brownsburg's gift was PERFECT! I also want to thank Cindi Gott for all her work to connect with this family. Brownsburg, Plainfield, and West Newton did amazing ritual work. We clapped Joe off after his 30 seconds provided by Stephanie. It was still better than his sister wives comments. We all celebrated Mahaley's seventh birthday. Carolyn was flattered by Taylor from 32 saying that she was beautiful and Sophie gave Carolyn some hard jabs on the way home and I loved it.

Tomorrow, we are off to Masonic Home Day. Check out the Grand Bethel table. You will be able to get your hair streaked and face painted for 50 cents a piece. Also, get your cotton candy for a $1 to support the scholarship fund.

HOT ITEM!!! The Grand Bethel Soup's Cook-off tickets will be on sale tomorrow for $5. Get them while their hot! See a Grand Bethel exec member for one.

First OV - Bethel 34 and 108

The first OV is in the history books! I am so proud of Bethel 34 and 108. They were polished and put together and truly made Stephanie, Carolyn and I very proud. Being a Hollywood themed event, I was among some of our most notable Job's Daughters stars. Two of the three daughters of Job (Linda and Bonnie) were gracefully bouncing around the room. Of course our reigning pop stars, Carolyn, Madison, Mahaley, and Markanda were shining in the twinkling lights. There was gossip about some stars were coming out of retirement like Tara. Just kidding. Markanda made us realize that celebrating the movies at an OV was perfect because movies has "ov" in it. Mahaley thanked all the little people for her Emmy. I appreciate my Emmy, but was secretly hoping for a Tony because then my mother would stop making fun of my singing. We skated by a CAV scare and laughed enough for an entire lifetime. Shirley is ready to got to that CVS training to become the Promoter of Hospitality. We corrected her that it was a "CAV" training.

In all seriousness, I am fiercely proud of my girls and how hard they worked. Keep rocking it girls! It was also great to pair up with Fishers and great to get to know their girls so much better. Looking forward to the carnival next weekend.

On the backs of Ostriches...

If you weren't there, you MISSED it! Grand Bethel Get-away was full of water fights, scavenger hunts, and mafias. I really hope that you will all be able to make the next one in March. On Friday, we decorated and talked. On Saturday, we had an amazing chef salad for lunch and then started our water games on the most beautiful day of the summer. This was evidenced by Carol's leg burns. We played a sweater race water race, dissolved alka-seltzer with squirt guns, balanced buckets of water on our feet (didn't end so well), had a water balloon fight, completed a scavenger hunt and the hardest word search ever. No surprise, Tara won! Also, we played mafia and at one point, Markanda said that Bailey died by being taped to the back of an ostrich and then forced to run off the cliff. Then, Leslie made Jacie die when her robe was being sewed and the needle slipped into jugular. After Carolyn and Becca made their epic arrival, we retired to hear the sweet whisperings of Carolyn...Tarrrrrr-a, Tarrrrrrr-a, Tarrrrrr-a. We had a great breakfast on Sunday and left with a bunch of memories.

I want to thank everyone for coming, laughing, and sharing. You all made it very special. I big thank you to Candice and Carol too! I did receive a significant amount of grief about my inability to use my own GPS on my phone. We visited the arch and as we were exploring, a vision came to us. It was that of three beautiful, wise, and stoic women. As there hair whipped in the wind and the sheen from the arch brushed across their faces, we thought for a moment it was the three daughters of Job reincarnated. Linda christened us as Junior Rangers with our buttons. Although, I think the vests would have made us look really official. Check out Carolyn's vest. Then, we explored the museum. In the museum, there was so much information about Lewis and Clark. My favorite quote was when Carolyn asked questioningly, "Didn't an Indian travel with them?" I responded, "You mean Sacajawea." I am sad that the Indiana public school system failed her. Also, in the museum, there were these seriously creepy animatronics dolls that stared us down. If it had been on Facebook it would have been a "dislike." There was also a very funny sign by all the animals...it is below. As we left, Carolyn got to try on a real buffalo skin. It almost made her fall over. We had to deal with some issues with the front desk...AGAIN! However, Jessica and Yolanda got it all straightened out for us. As soon as we got back to the room, Leslie and my mom started talking about getting Brownie Fudge Sundaes. Leslie finally said, "Are we really doing this or are you just teasing me?" She called room service and stated that we didn't want room service but we wanted to know if the restaurant had the dessert. They did and we made our way downstairs. Four sundaes later and a visit with Bonnie Kelly, we were laughing and crying. We took our Indiana picture although it was sad not to have the 22 girls in it. They totally made Supreme awesome! It just makes me realize that this is what Job's Daughters is all about. We got up this morning and departed from the hotel. Now, we are driving back to Indiana. On our journeys, Carolyn and I have seen many cars with the little families on the back. We have made it our mission to take pictures of these people. Carolyn is so glad to have a free day this morning to do ABSOLUTELY nothing!!! The night started in a fury. Leslie and I went downstairs to save Indiana's place at the front of the line at 5:30. Mind you, the doors did not open until 7:30. My mom and I got in early because we were family of the contestant. When we walked in the room, we were astonished to see that Shirley (one of the grandmother's of our girl, Sophie) was already in the auditorium. If you ever need to get in anywhere that is locked down like Fort Knox, she can obliviously get you in. We told "grannie" to sit with us. The air in the room was so full of energy as the candidates entered. Bethel 22 was AMAZING! They rooted and cheered so loud and proud for Carolyn and I now she was truly touched by you all. Thank you to all those that traveled just to cheer her on. For those of you that don't know, which is probably not many, Carolyn received the honor of being chosen as 2nd runner up. We are all so proud of her. She now joins a prestigious club with Raquel Ray and Ashley Hamilton. I suggested they start having their own breakfast at Grand Session. All joking aside, Carolyn did an AMAZING job representing Indiana (and I am not only saying that because I am biased). She commanded the stage with poise, dignity, and a lot of grace. She had a killer answer to the final question and did give us a scare as her name was the last one called for the top ten. Afterwards, we stole Sophie and went to the Supreme Get-Together at Denny's. Sophie got to met her idol...Barbara Holmes. Yes, Sophie cried. It was really sweet and the get-together was so much fun. We made it back and asleep by 3am. Today, the hotel tried to kick us out of our room, but we took care of that....I just said, "No, no, no!" Next, we are going to awards luncheon, where we will be rooting for all of our girls, who competed in ritual. Then, some much needed sight seeing.

Below are some pictures of fun things along the way. There is one of Carolyn outside of her decorated door, which we learned we had to take down immediately, that was disappointing. Another is of the Supreme Messenger Team acting out the story of Job and of the Choir that won 2ND PLACE...get girls! Another is of Leslie and me with our #1 Jobie Mom's buttons. We have initiated my mom, Terri, and now, Raquel. The last is of my mom and I strolling down the lane right into the worst housing section in St. Louis. The trail was a little deceiving.

P.S. They took second in choir and many, many other 1sts and 2nds in dance and other performing arts. This morning many girls competed in individual ritual competitions and the Supreme competed. We are all keeping our fingers crossed. I know how hard they all worked. We also got some amazing deals at the Hike sales and Doc Morgan. Watch for the vintage jackets. We also may be pondering bringing back drill. Are you ready to march? I hope so!

Next, we had lunch and rubbed Carolyn's feet to help her relax. I think that makes me a pretty amazing GBHQ and sister. Then, we dropped off Carolyn for Miss International test and games. We are sending her all good vibes. Mom, Leslie (recently named the all powerful LesB) and I decided to go out and explore. Big mistake in 96 degree weather. An hour later with sweat literally dripping down our backs we realized we had to go back for royalty practice. On our epic adventure, we walked through the less desirable parts of St. Louis. Mom was worried we might have a crisis situation on our hands...pretty insightful because Leslie did get some cat calls. Again, we relied on Job's protective triangle and made our tour of Busch stadium. Arriving back at the hotel, we needed to carbo load. We improved St. Louis' economy at the gift shop for sure. We were frantic that we missed Carolyn but realized from Miss British Columbia that she was still playing games. She didn't quite understand us and Leslie was afriD that we were speaking "in tongues."

Now, Leslie and I await royalty practice. More to come!

Adventures to Imo's

What an event filled day! Carolyn got registered for the MIJD pageant and the girls performed for the choir competition (I am not musical as most of you know, but they sounded pretty good!). Leslie and I decorated the door and after we were all done realized that it was prohibited. Epic fail! We had to tear it all down. Then, we went out to dinner at Imo's. It was a really good pizzeria. We devoured a lot of pizza, because we are all ladies, I won't admit how much we ate. On the way home, I carried Libbie and after putting her down a parking attendant said, "I'll carry you baby." We dd the protective Job triangle and got out of there. The local favor was not as tasty as the pizza. Next, we are off to Supreme Messenger Team practice.

Love,

Brittany, GBHQ

Car Ride to Supreme

It's official...we are on our way. In our annual trip to DeMolay Conclave, Carolyn and I got stuck in horrific traffic on US 31 and I465 at 74. We were certain that we would be late. It didn't help that I had not pre-filled up the car for our excursion and was ridiculed by Carolyn. Harsh words don't make happy friends. We frantically called Stephanie to say, "We're gonna be late." She replied, "It doesn't start till 7:30."

We were so LUCKY to have another 30 minutes to make it because we pretty much took the long way around the building. I was confident that we would find our way even though Carolyn was a nay sayer. Strolling in, we got ready and Markanda let us borrow her mom's straightner. The humidity had defeated both Carolyn and I's locks. It was great to see Sam and learn all about her plans for next year. I wish her all the best as State Sweetheart. We mixed and mingled and wished our dedicated GG a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Yes ladies, she loves Masonic Youth Organizations so much that she went to Conclave on her birthday. I think she was looking for a hunny...an older one of course! All joking aside, DeMolay had a great opening session. So many of their members were honored with regional ritual awards (taking home mostly firsts) and it looks like they had a terrific leadership conference. At their conference, they were all given nicknames, I think Too Tall (this kid literally had to be 4 foot tall) and Fancy Pants (I'm not sure I could ever understand the story there) were some of my favorite names. Job's Daughters was a hot topic of conversation. The State Master Counselor of Kentucky said he was excited to see so many Job's Daughters at Conclave, but in his experience, Job's Daughters were a rare and interesting breed. Being the southern gentleman that he was, he made sure after the event that he had not offended us. We found it all very funny. The men aspiring for state elected positions also gave their speeches and we learned that in about 1952 there were 3 million American boys as members of DeMolay. Did you know that President Truman was one?

Carolyn and I spoke with Andrea (Grand Worthy Advisor for Rainbow) and Nathan (by now, State Master Counselor for DeMolay) about a youth group event. That's all of us on the right! We are thinking maybe a trip to a Reds game with DeMolay, soup's cook-off, or a formal invitation to Coronation Ball. We are all excited about the upcoming year.

Next, we are off to Supreme and wishing Carolyn the absolute best. No matter what happens, we will be very proud of her. Additionally, I know that the Supreme Messenger team as been hard at work preparing. They are competing on Tuesday morning at 10:30 am so keep them your thoughts and some good vibes. There are about 23 teams competing. Also, I know that there are many girls who are competing in individual ritual and art's categories. Good luck girls and let's clean up! Time to represent at Supreme! I will try to keep you very updated while we are away. Also, we have made friends with the Representative from MO to Indiana. We are very excited to meet her. If you weren't there, you really missed out! For the opening morning, we did a regular Bethel meeting, but we were a very "naughty" Bethel (aka...we did everything wrong). The girls with their "super" adult corrected us. There was team: peacock, oink dolphin, meow, cock-a-doddle-doo, and moo. My personal favorite was the peacock...very clever, Alexa. The winning team was TEAM OINK! I wanted to thank each one of the Grand Bethel officers and active daughters that assisted with the ceremony. I hope each of you girls will take what you learned and put it to practice in your Bethel. Keep you and your adults accountable. Lunch was great and we raised a lot of money for the Grand Bethel Scholarship fund. Thank you for supporting these causes. A special thanks to my mom, Loretta, Sally, and Bethel 34 for working lunch.

After lunch, we played very serious and competitive round of Jobie Jeopardy. I tried out my Alex Trebek voice and the Ninjas won. Great work girls on some very difficult questions...can you tell that Carolyn was studying for Supreme?

Next, we are headed to DeMolay and then Supreme! On the way to Columbus, I got cut off by someone with a Vivid Scenery trailer. I do not recommend that you use them if you live near Leesburg, Indiana. Additionally, since there were several Holiday Inns in Columbus, we hoped we had the right one. After a quick change in the bathroom, we had just made it in the nic of time. Thanks to Joe and Stephanie for saving us some seats. The Grand Rainbow officers did an amazing drill presentation. They also showed off their scrapbooks and their Grand Representatives had a contest dressed like their state. I personally thought that the girl that was a rep to Oklahoma (dressed like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz) and the rep to Washington (dressed up as a totem pole) were the most creative. I think several people in the distinguished east felt the same way after them imposed themselves as judges (yes, Carolyn would be one of these at the urging of Dan Childs). At the end, we all danced around the room to Katy Perry's "Firework." Carolyn and I also got to met Andrea West, Grand Worthy Associate Advisor. We are excited to work with her in the coming year and see her next week at Conclave. Carolyn did an amazing job representing Job's Daughters in her remarks. She got the "thumbs up" from the Grand Master (so, I think that is a pretty good sign). I am glad I gave them to her to do (a true leader knows how to delegate...I am patting myself on the back). On the whole, I wish the Rainbow girls a very prosperous and exciting Assembly.

On another note, I was reminded tonight that the Masonic Home can use any of our donations to continue to get the various aspects of the Home up and running. You might consider donating one of your coin marches to them. Every little bit helps!

Can't wait to see you all Saturday at ADSOI!

Brittany, GBHQ

The LAST SOI!

We made it! It was a fun trip to New Albany. Carolyn and I sprinted out of my work and jammed down I65. I parked on the wrong side of the building and Carolyn made me go around. I thought we could just walk...exercise never hurt anyone. At the SOI, it was a large crowd and all had lots of questions about the year. The south is definitely representing and working hard to promote Job's Daughters. You girls rock! (Sorry, I didn't make it to the car wash.) I am excited that Jessica joined Grand Bethel and that Kaitlyn offered to take any other stations I needed. Your willingness to help and make Job's Daughters better is very inspiring! On the ride home, I took a ridiculous turn and Carolyn definitely judged me. We made it smoothly home and Carolyn sat on the couch and did nothing as I cleaned for our first Grand Bethel exec meeting. Although it was kind of long, we had a very productive meeting. The meeting will be epic as the great purge of 2011 and for Elecia yelling at Joe because he was snoring during the meeting. HILARIOUS!

During the SOI, some good questions came up. One was about needing a fishing license at Job-A-Rama. I found out from Tara Disbrow that everyone under the age of 18 does not need a license to fish in Indiana. No worries girls, just bring your poles to fish.

We will see you all for sure at the All Day School of Instruction at Lynhurst Lodge at 9:30 am. Make sure to bring your $5 for the Grand Bethel Luncheon. It will be yummy food! Also, we will have Ways and Means available. $10 for the Tshirts and $25 for the Capri sweat pants. At the Ways and Means table, there will also be registration forms for the Grand Bethel Get-away. All Grand Bethel Members, sponsors and past sponsors are welcome to attend. It is August 6-7 at the DeMolay Chateau. Registration is $25 and covers all your meals, lodging, and fun activities for the weekend. It is a cheap weekend for fun. This year the theme is SUMMER SPLASH and there will be lots of messing and fun games outside so be prepared for some wet and wild fun! Registrations are due by July 29th. Be there or be square!

Yours,

Brittany Winebar, GBHQ

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://brittanygbhq.blogspot.com/2011/07/area-soi-new-albany-right-right.html' title='Area SOI New Albany, right? I loved visiting up north with all my old friends. Carolyn and I had an eventful ride up to the SOI. We wrote remarks for Rainbow and DeMolay, Carolyn thought I was being weird for dancing to all the songs on our Road Trip CDs, and got in town really early (poor planning Brittany), but we decided to go to the Westfield Mall. Carolyn fell in love with these ridiculous Cheetah heels. In Icing, we witnessed a girl stealing and being detained by security. DON'T STEAL GIRLS! Then, we headed over the SOI. Stephanie almost freaked out because she thought she lost something important (it shall not be named) and it took almost till the end of the meeting to find Job. Great job Sidney for finding him!

Next, we are off to New Albany! This year was no exception.

Some of my favorite memories over the past five days were:
-Playings "spools" with Bethel 34 (this is when you don't have spoons, but spools of thread)
-Learning that the code word for setting down the Bible in the Bible presentation ceremony was "blackbird"
-Receiving a member of honor from Bethel 34
-Seeing all the love and support surrounding me (huge thank you's to Bethel 34, 44, and 54, the tech people at Manchester College, Heather Haywood, Sally Reynolds, Jennifer Gilbert, Leslie Bailey, Kris Bailey, Jason Eakins, Susan McKendry, Tara Disbrow, Elecia Armantrout, and the GB Exec).
-Finding the only person dressed like they were going to the Kentucky Derby (aka Carolyn Winebar)...it was a nice hat though!
-Being an obstacle in Bethel 67 and 68's game of crawl to get the ball as fast as you can in the hallway at 11:30 pm
-Cuddling in bed with Elecia and falling asleep as I am supposed to be helping writing remarks
-Tara Disbrow...enough said!
-Signing the bible as Brittany Winebar 2011-20102 (yes, I will be here until 20,102 AD)
-Having Carolyn, Ciara, and Libbie sign to "Here, I am Lord" (I cried...just a little)
-Finding a new spot to holster my Woodstock guns (imposed on me by the Misses)
-Starting the dictionary of the day challenge with the misses (my favorite one so far is....The sirocco blew up my skirt while walking into the bethel).
-Sitting in front of Michael and Mary Jo
-Watching Joe and Stephanie be installed
-Having my first exec meeting (such an awesome group of people who I know will be able to accomplish some amazing things this year)
-Caged into the chair during GGC pictures by the Misses
-*Sniff* Mahaley, you smell so good.
-Learning that Alex beat Carolyn in Uno (I heard she even threw her cards across the room)
-Seeing all the amazing ritualists we have in Indiana (everyone better be there again this year)
-GB Talent show (I thought the men were extremely compelling...I am recommending that they try out for America's Got Talent)
-Making it into Riley's dream that we went shopping at Kohl's with a $1000 and a limo

There are so many more things I could say, but, all in all, it was an amazing session and a great half a week. Congratulations to the 2010-2011 Grand Family on a very successful year.

As we begin area school of instructions, I want to let all the daughters across Indiana know that the traveling contest for Grand Bethel is a little different this year. There will a little figure, who looks like Job (he is praying), and will be hid at every statewide event. If you find him, you need to bring him back to me. I will put your name on a list. The person who finds him the most this year will be given "twice as many of the worlds goods as she has before" at Grand Session next year. Also, Grand Bethel Get-away is coming up very quickly on August 6-7 in Bloomington. I hope all the Grand Bethel members will come. It is a summer splash theme which means lots of water and messing games. I hope to see you all there!

Just remember, I am always here if you need an ear, have something important to say, or just to laugh! I look forward to visiting you all!

Yours,

Brittany Winebar, GBHQ
